Method development and validation of mestranol tablets by RP-HPLC

Abstract:

The present project work was to use the RP-HPLC technique to estimate mestranol concurrently in tablet dose forms and to verify the procedure in compliance with ICH standards. Chromatogram was performed using Inertsil ODS C18 column 250 x 4.6 mm with 5um. Mobile phase acetonitrile: methanol in ratio of 25:75 used was pumped at a flow rate of 1ml/min. injection volume 20 ul with a run time of 6 min. The retention time, optimized wavelength was found at 238nm at ambient temperature. Limit of detection and limit of quantification was found to be 0.012 & 0.036 and with a regression equation of y = 5570.5x + 105.33 R² = 0.999. Hence the developed method is simple and found to be economical to be adopted for mestranol estimation.
