Medicinal plants have long been valued for their extensive therapeutic potential, offering effective natural remedies for various health conditions, including nephrotoxicity. Herbal formulations have been integral to traditional medicine systems worldwide, providing solutions for preventing and managing kidney damage. In the present study, the nephroprotective activity of Andrographis paniculata root extract was evaluated, focusing on its effects in a nephrotoxicity model induced in Swiss albino mice. The research assessed critical parameters such as serum creatinine and urea levels, oxidative stress markers, and histopathological changes to determine the efficacy of the plant extract. The results indicate that Andrographis paniculata root extract significantly reduces nephrotoxicity by mitigating oxidative stress, reducing inflammation, and preserving renal structure and function. These findings highlight the potential of Andrographis paniculata as a natural therapeutic agent for managing nephrotoxicity, providing a safer and more effective alternative to conventional nephroprotective agents. Further studies are recommended to explore its broader pharmacological activities, bioactive constituents, and mechanisms of action to establish its clinical relevance in kidney health and disease management.
